Land use transformation

in two luxury residential subdivisions in Mexico City

Abstract

The evolution of two paradigmatic neighborhoods in the residential model of Mexico City is examined. Although the beginning of them differs thirty years, both have their apogee at the beginning of the second half of the 20th century. In both cases, there have been numerous changes in land use that have modified the scheme of a low-density residential complex with little traffic. The situation is a consequence of several factors, one of them being the high cost that the land has reached, forming an unprofitable land rent for housing.
