Abstract

Carlos Marx points out that in certain situations time passes very slowly as if nothing were happening, perhaps the Mexico of the fifties?, that it is as if time were stretched out and with it events occurred very slowly, but Marx also tells us that it is usually The opposite can happen, that there are other moments in history where things happen quickly, as if time were shortening. And it is precisely in the second case where we can locate the different essays contained in this book by Sergio Tamayo, which refer to five years that passed quickly, leaving behind a trail of facts such as the following: Mexico tries to become a powerful global when negotiating and putting the river to walk; but, at the same time, armed peasant movements reappeared in Chiapas, Guerrero and Oaxaca; new political actors disappear and reappear such as the housewives of Las Lomas, the street vendors, Super Barrio and Super Animal; the PRI is facing the worst crisis in its history; unemployment becomes a plague and violence makes its way to everyday life. At the international level, we witnessed the war in the Persian Gulf and the political and economic hegemony of a small group of countries, alongside a majority of nations whose inhabitants lack the essentials...
