Resumo

The Yearbook of Urban Spaces, History, Culture and Design (AEU) is considered an essential publication for the academic work of our institution. Indexing in Latindex and, recently, in EBSCO support this recognition and strengthen its presence in the context of specialized magazines on urban issues. The Urban Studies Area maintains the commitment of a publication project that emerged 26 years ago, whose purpose was to become a national benchmark and a space for permanent academic discussion. The Yearbook together with the Area, the Postgraduate in Design and, now, the Urban Form Laboratory are a range of opportunities to support research around cities at our University. The challenges do not end there for those of us who have assumed editorial coordination in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. Our goals are to maintain and improve the publication further. At the same time, we want to strengthen the critical dialogue between the Área and the Anuario. The change of post office forces us to make a stop along the way. The intention is to review the origin of the yearbook and its connection with other projects. In the same way, we wish to make an explicit acknowledgment to its founders and to the contribution made both to the Division of Sciences and Arts for Design and to the University that accommodated them. For this reason we decided to interview Sergio Tamayo (Tuxtla Gutiérrez, 1956), who is a key figure in the emergence of the AEU project.
