Abstract

Most of the buildings located in the blocks facing Juárez Avenue suffered significant damage during the September 1985 earthquakes, so the buildings at risk located in the southern zone of the Alameda Central were demolished and others were abandoned, with no proposals for urban restructuring. During a period of approximately 20 years, the different urban intervention proposals that were elaborated were not carried out until the Partial Programme of Urban Development Centro Alameda was approved in the year 2000. The projects that were finally carried out were those proposed in that Programme; however, despite the fact that this area has already been restructured, most of the heritage buildings are in poor condition.
