Abstract

Christian Grimaldo (2018) configures in this book a significant description of one of the places of great historical relevance for the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco. Just as it can be referred by its relationship with the foundation of the city or as a protected natural reserve, it can also be spoken as one of the spaces that contains diversity of conflicts and abundant disputes over the territory. Grimaldo, through an outstanding methodological rigor, presents the ways in which the materiality of the gully is linked to the symbolic-imaginary plane. In La barranca de Huentitán: Usos, apropiaciones e imaginarios urbanos is synthesized an historical journey that places in time the different uses and appropriations that have been given to the gully. The relevance of this book is partly in its methodological proposal, as it can be presented as one of the many relevant processes to understand urban life and its transformations.
